My name is Ángel V. Jiménez. I am a research consultant in psychology and quantitative research methods from Spain currently living in Plymouth, United Kingdom.

My passions include personal development, hiking, composing melodies with the guitar, and dancing salsa and bachata.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

I am currently on a break from academia. I have previously conducted post-graduate and post-doctoral research at Durham University, the University of Exeter, and Brunel University London. My research adopts an interdisciplinary evolutionary perspective, and seeks to understand:

1.- what makes some ideas widely spread through society while others hardly catch on (cultural transmission)

2.- how people choose their sources of information to acquire valuable knowledge/skills (social learning)

3.- what strategies people use to acquire higher social rank and social influence within a social group or in society at large (status attainment).

Through this research, I have gained expertise in psychology, evolutionary theory applied to human behaviour, experimental design, and statistical analysis. All these skills are invaluable for both my research consultancy and my writing on personal development.

As an independent consultant in psychology and quantitative research methods, I

1.- provide support to businesses, academics, and other individuals with the conceptualization of their research questions, research design, data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation

2.- give one-on-one and group tutorials on how to design a questionnaire with Qualtrics, conduct statistical analysis with R and SPSS, and design a research project 

3.- write short posts summarizing current research in psychology
